Frequently Asked Questions

What is Finished Goods Assembly?

The Finished Goods module forms part of the production functionality in Cin7 Core Inventory. It helps you keep track of the use of raw materials as well as associated costs throughout the manufacturing process. The Finished Goods function can only be used with products that have a Bill of Materials with their component parts.

Can I create kits and gift sets automatically?

Yes, check the Auto-assembly/Kit box to allow Cin7 Core to automatically produce the item after the sale order is authorised, assuming there are enough components in stock.

What is disassembly?

Disassembly can be used to break down inventory items into components. The disassembly function can only be used with items that have a Bill of Materials showing their component parts. Disassembly is intended to be used for simple operations such as disassembling packs of multiple items into their component parts.

Can I automatically assemble or disassemble finished goods without the Bill Of Materials?

Yes, you can use the Additional Units of Measure feature. The Additional Units of Measure function allows more than one unit of measure to be specified for a product or service. For example, if the same bottle of wine is sold as an individual bottle, a case of 6, and a case of 12.

When can I use the Additional Unit of Measure feature in Cin7 Core?

The Additional Units of Measure functionality can be used in the following situations:
– to automatically disassemble a case into singles if purchased in cases and sold as singles;
– to automatically assemble a case from singles if sold as a case and is kept in stock as singles;
– to do the unit of measure conversion if purchased in kg and needs to be converted to lb, etc

Is there an easier and quicker way to create multiple Assembly BOMs in Cin7 Core?

Yes, BOM details can be imported in CSV format via the Inventory module, or exported, edited, and re-imported for fast bulk editing. Multiple product BOMs can be imported at once.

Can I create sub-assemblies in Cin7 Core?

Yes, Cin7 Core supports multi level assemblies.

How is Cin7 Core handling a different yield?

Before completing the assembly, you can still amend the actual yield of the manufacturing run if it was higher or lower than expected. Completing the finished goods task will increase the total quantity of the finished product by the actual yield.

How is the cost calculated for Assemblies?

The BOM for the finished product estimates a cost using either Average Cost, Latest Purchase Cost, or Fixed Purchase Cost. This is for your reference only. The actual cost of finished goods will be calculated using the costing method of each individual component allocated to an assembly and can vary from “Total” cost displayed in the BOM. Actual costs associates with finished goods can be seen using the Finished Goods Analysis Report
